First impression service, attended — someone alongside you who knows where to look, what the seller has not mentioned, and what a full survey would be likely to turn up. Or attended on your behalf if you cannot be there.

You have found the boat and want an opinion before committing

Pre-purchase survey — the full inspection, with a haul-out where possible, and a report that ranks every finding by urgency.

You are buying a sailing yacht more than about ten years old

Pre-purchase survey plus an aloft rigging inspection. Deck-level is included as standard; aloft is where the majority of significant rig findings are.

A survey was done but the sea trial never happened

Standalone sea trial — weather, storage or scheduling commonly rule one out on the day, and it is the only test of the vessel under load.

You are starting or finishing a refit or major works

Refit and project oversight if the work is starting: site attendance, workmanship checks and progress reporting. A post-works inspection if it is already done: an independent check that what was invoiced was actually carried out, and carried out properly, before the final payment is released.

You already own a boat and need a technical opinion

A condition survey, rigging survey or sea trial depending on the concern — a damage or defect assessment, or a second opinion on a quote you have been given.
